Chocolate Sculpture 'Valentina' (Fri, 8am-6pm) - SoFlo Cake & Candy Expo

One-day chocolate sculpting class, making realistic female adult face using dummies. Total height 30cm.

The teacher will start the class with a brief explanation of the theory of facial analysis and will provide the students with a file detailing the process, so that the students can have a theory reference guiding them in their future projects.

The teacher will then list the materials used to make the solid internal structure, explain how to handle it so that it can safely be in contact with food. It will also be explained how to make the sculpture with carved cake inside.

The teacher will then proceed with practical sculpting demonstration, whilst helping the students make their own.

The students will learn how to work with modelling chocolate; how to paste and smooth it out to obtain the best result when making fine realistic facial traits.

The teacher will then show and explain how to paint and make up the face for a realistic look, using brushes and food colouring. She will also explain how to make the pink glasses.

The final touches of the piece will be made using fondant and other mediums.

Thus, the resulting piece will prove to be exhaustive in terms of techniques used, techniques which the students will be able to apply and reuse in their own futures creations, thereby open a large scale of possibilities.

*Techniques being taught during class in list format:

- Make an internal structure using dummies

- Create the volumes for a realistic female adult features

- How to model, smooth and texturize the modelling chocolate

- Painting using edible colours for a realistic look

- How to make the glasses

- Final complements using fondant

Schedule Note: Students will have a 1-hour lunch break, the timing of which will be determined by the teacher.

• All class tickets are non-refundable once purchased.

• All classrooms are on the second floor of MACC.

• You will need a general admission ticket in order to register for classes, including classes hosted on Friday.

• The vendor hall will not be open on Friday, and is only open Saturday & Sunday.

• Classes will begin promptly at the time scheduled.

• Saturday and Sunday there will be a two two-hour break from 1:00-3:00 to allow time for lunch, shopping, raffle drawings and contest results.

• All class materials and tools are included for classroom use only, unless otherwise noted. Students will NOT keep any tools used in class. Each student will be provided with a box to take home your completed class project.

• No children or guests allowed in classrooms. Only registered students will be permitted inside the class area.
